What is WCC?

Pleased to announce our Charity of the year since 2016 is the Big Issue.

The Big Issue believe in a ‘hand up and not a hand out’ and recognise that earning an income is a key step in a person’s journey towards stability and a better life. Achieving something for yourself is 100% more empowering than having it done for you.

The Big Issue offers the incentive of earning an income; it means that we engage with a number of individuals who are not seen by other services or projects. We work exclusively with Big Issue vendors. People who are homeless are often excluded from mainstream society, financially impoverished and disadvantaged in multiple ways; we seek to address the fundamental issues attached to social and financial exclusion. Please click here for more basic facts about them

CSR Policy

Policy Statement

Our aim is to minimise the impact of our business on the environment, have a positive effect on society and seek to work with other organisations who embrace these objectives. We aim to use natural resources responsibly, work with community projects and encourage and educate our employees in these goals. We value diversity, fairness, justice and equality throughout all our engagements both internally and externally.

What do we actually do?

In employment

We are an Equal Opportunity employer

In the community

We give time off to support local & national charities

We donate to Crash and other Charities to tackle homelessness

In the office

We recycle office materials (paper, print cartridges etc) wherever possible

Business Travel

Travel is a necessity in our business, but we monitor all business travel and offset the carbon produced at carbonfootprint.com In 2015 we travelled 51476 miles creating an estimated 15.4t of CO2 and offset 16t by planting trees. We aim to reduce the mileage per employee per year.

We have installed an  Aqua Aid water cooler in our offices and each bottle of water used helps support Children in Africa.

As holders of the Work Place Wellbeing Award we are aware that keeping our staff members hydrated helps them to perform at their very best throughout the work day. As a result, we decided to invest in watercoolers from AquaAid.

Our unique relationship with AquAid has also given our company the opportunity to help those less fortunate than ourselves, because with each purchase an automatic donation is made to the Africa Trust. These funds are used to build ‘Elephant Pumps’ - a modified version of an age old Chinese rope pulley system. One such pump is currently being installed in Africa on our behalf and it will be a much needed source of clean and fresh drinking water for many.

Our company’s name will be proudly displayed on our well and we look forward to adding some photos and letters of thanks from the villagers to our site in the near future. To date AquAid have built over 5,000 such Elephant Pumps across parts of Zimbabwe, Malawi and Liberia; and have donated in excess of £10 million to charity.

We have donated our 2016 Christmas card budget to support CRASH. See the video

Heart and circulatory disease takes the lives of more than 400 people in the UK each day. To help beat it our staff raised £120 for British Heart Foundation by wearing red to work on Friday 5th Feb 2016.
